We had reservations and we got sat promptly although the place was packed. After we sat it was quite a wait before we saw a server so I was starting to this we made a mistake going there. Music was really loud and it felt very touristy. I would give atmosphere 3 stars BUT - the food is delicious. I was pleasantly surprised with the tastiness of the food. The dumplings are full of flavor, coconut shrimp is crisp and I don't know what sauce came with the lettuce wraps but I could eat it on everything. So 4 stars total. Just be prepared that it's loud and touristy.I should add that once we did get served the service was great.

Seafood Ramen!!!! My favorite dish at this small, but full of good ambiance korean food spot with a hip hop vibe. The staff were great, especially the servers. Super friendly and helpful. My favorite drink was the "I Love You". Try to get a reservation because this place usually has a line outside.

My favorite restaurant in NOLA! I loveee this place. The perfect spot for date night. I've been here with my bf a couple times & went alone (sat at the bar) a couple of times. Always a great experience. Ambience: I've only been at night but it is dimly lit in the inside with ambient lighting. It's very pretty. It is small in the inside so I would suggest booking reservations, otherwise you'll be waiting a while (especially on weekends or if there's any event going on in the city). They play r&b/hip hop music which I enjoy. It's not too loud. 10/10 Location: It's located on the corner of Decatur and Bienville in the French Quarter. There are plenty bars nearby so if there's a long wait you can walk to one or just walk around the French Quarters which can be fun if you're with other people. Parking: I don't think there's street parking too close. But there is paid parking about 2 blocks down in a parking lot. I/we usually park there and walk. Or you can take a Uber/Lyft. Service: I've always gotten great service here. Everyone is usually informed about the menu & helpful. Food: The real reason I keep coming back. FOR APPETIZERS * Crab Rangoon Dip 10/10! It comes with a sweet & sour chili sauce on the side which is really good with it. * Gumbo Dumplings 10/10! They're filled with gumbo in the inside & they're so good! Must try even if you never tried dumplings before. It reminds me of an egg roll but a wet/soupy like version. * Crawfish Fried Rice 8.9/10 It's good but nothing special. It is a big portion size though so it's shareable. FOR MEALS * Seafood Ramen AMAZING 1000/10. A MUST! You can swap the mussels for shrimp if you'd like. But it's sooo good, I'm obsessed. * Bulgogi 8.5/10 I wanted to try something different for once. It's really good don't get me wrong. I'm just not a huge fan of teriyaki sauce. If you like teriyaki sauce you'll love this. DRINKS- They're all very strong you'll only need one. * I Love You Cocktail 10/10 One of their signatures. * Lemon Drop 10/10 The best I've had. DESERT * Matcha Cheesecake 1000/10 So creamy and perfect. Anyways if you don't try anything else, the ramen seafood & matcha cheesecake is a MUST!

There's no shortage of amazing food in NOLA, however, there are places that stick out for unique flavor profiles, fantastic customer service with knowledgeable servers and an overall elite experience such as @sunchongnola On my most recent trip for the @dreamincolorsf conference, I sought out new places I'd yet to visit. I found out Sun Chong was owned by the Morrow's restaurant family and knew it was a must try. The ambience was giving a feeling of warmth and home while enjoying hip hop in the background without being overly loud so we could still hear each other and enjoy conversation. Our server had incredible knowledge about all of the dishes to include how many pounds of real crab used in the crab Rangoon dip to the shear deliciousness of the matcha cheesecake that steals the hearts of those like me who could take it or leave it, but end up devouring it every. Single. Time. He wasn't wrong about any of it. The crawfish fried rice and bulgogi were mouth wateringly delicious as well. I'll be dreaming of these until our next visit! My only feed back is I love the sauce on both the fried chicken wings and the fried ribs but having both was too much. I suggest choosing one or the other, and honestly, I'd choose it on the ribs as the pork paired with it was better in my opinion. Overall, when in NOLA, this is one of those restaurants you do not want to miss!!

I eat a lot of Korean at home and wasn't expecting to do so on my vacation in New Orleans but my friend and I stopped by here on lark on a Friday night. The place was packed and we had to wait a bit and sit at the bar but the ambiance was pretty perfect for a Friday night out. I'd just recommend trying to book a reservation in advance if you prefer table as the place is on the smaller side. I ordered the (Brussel Sprouts ~$10) and the Sun Chong Chicken (~$16) and both were pretty good. The sprouts were well done and while the chicken didn't quite have the usual flavor I was used to for a Korean sweet and spicy wings, it was enjoyable overall though maybe a bit more smokey that I was used to. Pretty delicious sauce overall though. I ordered their old fashioned (~$18) and would call that a pretty big miss for me though. They put on a good show adding smoke on delivery but the mix was VERY heavy pours on the bitters and didn't really match the flavor profile you would expect. The only saving grace was since they seemed to make it like it was a double as my ice melted it cut the harshness and made the drink quite a bit more palatable. Overall Sun Chong was a pretty trendy, happening place. The food was pretty good and if you want to go to a lively spot to enjoy it then it fits the bill. I'd personally love a spot like this in my local Korean Neighborhood.

Our first time visiting here. We were drawn by the influence of our coworker to try the fried chicken so we did. We tried the Sun Chong Chicken (7 pcs) and the fried chicken and fried rice (3 pcs). We also ordered the pork stir fry, shrimp pasta, and brussel sprouts as a side. Here are the pros and cons in our visit: Pros & Cons: Our server, Ryan, was nice and accommodating. We ordered the "I Love You" drink ($17) but served without the edible flower. We asked to if we can sub with another garnish bc we order to mimic what is advertised. The staff were nice about to accommodate. We had to change a Sprite drink twice, because it was flat/no gas after the tasting it. After the third try, Ryan said the CO2 tank was probably having troubles. We changed to lemonade ($3) Also, we had two of our chicken pieces from the Sun Chong Chicken that were slightly pink inside which we didn't eat. We informed Ryan after paying because we didn't want him to think we were reaching for a discount. Just to inform the back staff as this may be a risk factor. We tipped on top of the 18% mandatory grat because of the hospitality given. Thanks!
